SO WHEN I WAS HERE BEFORE, I HAD SHARED OUR PROJECT SUMMARY THAT BY THE END OF THIS SCHOOL YEAR, CAROLINE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS WOULD BE PREPARED TO LAUNCH THE NEWLY APPROVED CTE PROGRAMS TO BEGIN IN THE 27-28 SCHOOL YEAR. EXCUSE ME. AND JUST AS A REMINDER, MARYLAND STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION APPROVED ALL NEW PROGRAMS OF STUDY THAT INCLUDE ALL NEW STANDARDS FOR EVERY SINGLE CTE PROGRAM A FEW MONTHS AGO. AND SO WE'VE BEEN WORKING THROUGH THEM. AND TODAY I'M JUST GOING TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON WHERE WE ARE. IN ADDITION, AS YOU KNOW, THE BLUEPRINT AND COMAR STATE THAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE TO HAVE A SIX YEAR PLAN THAT IS INCLUDING 9TH THROUGH 12TH GRADE AS WELL AS TWO YEARS POST HIGH SCHOOL. SO OUR CURRENT PLAN IS TO USE OUR CURRENT PLATFORM THAT WE HAVE, WHICH IS CALLED NAVIANCE AS OUR PLATFORM TO HOUSE OUR SIX YEAR PLAN. NAVIANCE CURRENTLY INCLUDES STUDENT INFORMATION. OUR CAREER COACHES AND SCHOOL COUNSELORS HAVE BEEN DOING CAREER ASSESSMENTS THROUGH THAT PLATFORM. THERE IS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR SHORT AND LONG TERM GOALS. FOUR YEAR COURSE SELECTION FOR THEIR HIGH SCHOOL COURSES. AND WHAT A STUDENT'S POST-SECONDARY PLAN IS. AND SO YOU SEE THROUGH THE SLIDE ABOUT MSDE, THOSE ARE ALL OF THE PIECES THAT NEED TO BE INCLUDED IN THIS SIX YEAR PLAN. SO WE DO FEEL AS IF NAVIANCE IS A GOOD FIT FOR THAT. AND IT IS SOMETHING THAT STUDENTS ARE ALREADY FAMILIAR WITH, AS WELL AS SCHOOL COUNSELORS, COACHES, AND TEACHERS. WE HAVE DONE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR STAFF AND THAT IS CONTINUING BECAUSE THERE ARE ADDITIONAL PIECES OF NAVIANCE THAT WE DO PLAN TO USE AS WELL. THEY HAVE A WORK BASED LEARNING PORTION OF NAVIANCE. SO THAT IS WHERE WE ARE GOING TO BE COLLECTING OUR DATA FOR OUR CAREER COACHING. AND THE END RESULT WAS, THIS WAS THE MOST MEANINGFUL OPPORTUNITY WE HAVE HAD WITH OUR STUDENTS. SO, ALL SCHOOL COUNSELORS, STARTING IN 8TH GRADE MET INDIVIDUALLY WITH EVERY STUDENT, 8TH GRADE THROUGH 11TH GRADE TO MAP OUT THEIR REMAINING HIGH SCHOOL COURSES. SO FOR 8TH GRADE, THAT WAS, LET'S PLAN ALL FOUR YEARS. AND OBVIOUSLY FOR AN 11TH GRADER, IT WAS JUST LET'S PLAN NEXT YEAR. OBVIOUSLY, THAT WAS VERY TIME CONSUMING. BUT THAT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO HAVE THIS IN NAVIANCE. NAVIANCE DOES TALK TO POWERSCHOOL WHERE WE DO OUR ACTUAL SCHEDULING AND STUDENT INFORMATION. SO THAT PART WAS SEAMLESS. BUT THE SCHOOL COUNSELORS REALLY DID SAY THAT THE CONVERSATIONS THAT THEY HAD WITH STUDENTS WERE SO MEANINGFUL AND SO IMPORTANT. AND THEY FELT LIKE THE FOUR YEAR COURSE PLAN THAT A STUDENT HAS NOW CREATED REALLY DOES MEET THEIR CAREER GOALS. I COULDN'T ASK FOR ANY MORE, BUT SHOUT OUT, AGAIN, TO THE SCHOOL COUNSELORS BECAUSE THAT REALLY WAS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF WORK. WE, AS I SAID, CAREER COACHES AND SCHOOL COUNSELORS USE NAVIANCE ALREADY FOR CAREER ASSESSMENTS. WE NEED TO UPDATE OUR SCOPE AND SEQUENCE BASED ON THE REVISED CAREER COACHING METRICS THAT WE NEED TO MEET, BUT WE WILL BE TAKING CARE OF THAT PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF NEXT SCHOOL YEAR. ALSO, WITHIN NAVIANCE, STUDENTS NEED TO ALSO HAVE AN INDIVIDUAL LEARNING PLAN IF THEY ARE NOT COLLEGE AND CAREER READY BY THE END OF 10TH GRADE. WE BELIEVE THAT WE ARE GOING. WE HAVE TRIED AND PILOTED DIFFERENT TYPES OF INDIVIDUAL LEARNING PLANS THAT HAVE BEEN A LITTLE CUMBERSOME. SO WE DO BELIEVE THAT NAVIANCE AND THEIR GOAL SETTING WILL BE ABLE TO ALLOW US TO ALSO LOOP IN OUR INDIVIDUAL LEARNING PLAN IN THAT PLATFORM SO THAT STUDENTS CAN WORK WITH SCHOOL STAFF, COUNSELORS, CAREER COACHES, AND TEACHERS AS WELL TO PLAN HOW THEY WILL BECOME COLLEGE AND CAREER READY BEFORE GRADUATION BY SOME OF THE GOAL SETTING OPPORTUNITIES IN NAVIANCE. NOT BELIEVE THAT ANYTHING DID AT THIS TIME. NAVIANCE DOES HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR PARENT APPROVAL IN THE SYSTEM SO THAT PARENTS WOULD LOG INTO NAVIANCE, SEE THEIR STUDENTS FOUR YEAR PLAN, SEE THEIR SIX YEAR PLAN. BUT WE DID NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO THAT THIS YEAR DUE TO TIMING AS WELL AS COMMUNICATION AS TO HOW TO LOG INTO NAVIANCE AND THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. THAT'S WITHOUT A DOUBT IN OUR PLAN. THE SIX YEAR PLAN ITSELF, ONE OF THE CRITERIA IS THAT IT HAS TO HAVE SIGNATURES. WE BELIEVE THAT THE FOUR YEAR COURSE APPROVAL IS A PORTION OF THAT, BUT NAVIANCE DOES HAVE. SO NOW IT'S HOW DO WE SYSTEMATIZE IT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE GETTING ALL ACROSS THE BOARD AS PART OF IT. YEAH. BECAUSE MY EXPERIENCE WAS DIFFERENT AS WELL WITH TWO DIFFERENT KIDS IN DIFFERENT GRADE LEVELS. AND BOTH COUNSELORS WERE WONDERFUL WITH MY KIDS AND WORKING THROUGH THEM. BUT ON THE PARENT END, IT WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT LOOK. WHICH ALSO LED TO THE CONVERSATION OF, OKAY, HOW DO WE MAKE IT MORE OF A SYSTEMIC APPROACH TO MAKE SURE WE'RE GETTING PARENT ENGAGEMENT? BUT NOW, THE COUNSELORS HAVE BEEN AWESOME. IT WAS A BIG LIFT, BUT THEY WERE. YES. YEAH. PART OF THAT'S GOING TO DEPEND ON, LIKE YOU SAID, YOU HAVE TWO DIFFERENT, YOU KNOW, YOU HAVE GET TWO DIFFERENT STUDENTS. YEAH. YEP. AND TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE. YES. SO YOU'RE GOING TO GET TWO DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO THAT. YES. I SEE IT MYSELF WITH MINE. MAYBE ONE DOESN'T COME HOME AND TALK ABOUT WHAT SHE DID AT SCHOOL, WHEREAS THE OTHER ONE. OH, I DID THIS OR, YOU KNOW, I MET WITH MR. YEAH. SUCH AND SUCH. AND HE TOOK ME TO, YOU KNOW, TALK TO ME ABOUT GOING HERE OR HE SET UP FOR ME TO GO TO LOOK AT THESE PROGRAMS AND STUFF LIKE THAT. AND VERY, YOU KNOW, HOW MUCH THEY'RE ENGAGED VARIES DEPENDING ON THE INDIVIDUAL. SO YEAH, THERE'S A WAY TO MAKE IT. TO KIND OF MAKE IT MORE SYSTEMIC. YEAH. PARENTS KNOW THIS IS GOING ON. YES. THE PARENT APPROVAL OF THAT FOUR YEAR COURSE PLAN, AS WELL AS SIGNATURE OF THE SIX YEAR, THAT REALLY WILL GET THEM LOOPED INTO EVERYTHING THAT WE'RE DOING. I HAVE ONE QUESTION ABOUT THE SIX YEAR PLAN. HOW MUCH FLEXIBILITY IS IT FOR THE STUDENTS WHO SET THEIR CLASSES OR GOALS THAT THEY'RE INTERESTED IN? I'M SURE THERE'S SOME. HOW FLEXIBLE IS IT? FOR EXAMPLE, IN EIGHTH GRADE, I MIGHT SAY I WANT TO TAKE BIOLOGY. CORRECT. AND THEN IN 10TH GRADE YOU SAY, I'D RATHER DO. IT IS REQUIRED THAT WE MEET WITH THE STUDENTS ON AN ANNUAL BASIS TO REVIEW THEIR SIX YEAR PLAN. OKAY. SO THIS YEAR TRULY WAS THE HEAVIEST LIFT BECAUSE NOBODY HAD ANY PLAN. BUT MOVING FORWARD, IT WILL BE REVIEWING AND REVISING. RIGHT. OKAY. SO YES, THERE'S PLENTY OF FLEXIBILITY AND WE ENCOURAGE STUDENTS. YEAH. RIGHT? TO CHANGE. WE DON'T ENCOURAGE, BUT, WHAT I'D LIKE TO SAY IS, WE KNOW THAT CHANGE IS GOING TO HAPPEN. STUDENTS GROW, THEY GET INVOLVED IN SOMETHING ELSE. AND IT BECOMES, YOU KNOW, THEIR FASCINATION AND WHAT THEY REALLY CHOOSE THAT THEY WANT TO DO. AND SO WE ENCOURAGE, IF CHANGE IS NECESSARY, TO MAKE IT. THE ONLY PLACE WHERE FLEXIBILITY GETS TO BE A CHALLENGE. THE FURTHER ALONG THEY GET INTO THE PROCESS AND GET CREDITS IN CERTAIN AREAS. CHANGING A CAREER PATHWAY IN THEIR SENIOR YEAR. OH YEAH. YEAH. SO AGAIN, THE FURTHER THEY GET ALONG, THE HARDER IT IS TO BE FLEXIBLE DEPENDING ON WHERE THEY'RE TRYING TO GO. BUT THE FLEXIBILITY IS DEFINITELY THERE AND LEADING UP TO THAT POINT. ABSOLUTELY. I THINK THE OTHER BENEFIT TO THE SIX YEAR PLAN TRULY IS WE HAVE BEEN. ERIC COOK, MY COORDINATOR, AND I HAVE BEEN TALKING A LOT ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT LEND THEMSELVES IN 11TH AND 12TH GRADE. APPRENTICESHIP, INTERNSHIP, CAREER INTERNSHIPS AND SO FORTH. BUT A STUDENT WHO MAY WANT TO DO THOSE THINGS NEEDS TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY IN THEIR SCHEDULE IN 11TH AND 12TH GRADE. AND SO IF THERE IS. TRULY, IF THEY'RE NOT SCHEDULED CORRECTLY, OR IF THEY WAIT TO HAVE SOME OF THEIR REQUIREMENTS IN 11TH AND 12TH GRADE, IT LIMITS THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT A STUDENT CAN HAVE. IN JANUARY, I GAVE THEM AN OVERVIEW OF THE CHANGES. IN FEBRUARY, WE REALLY CONCENTRATED ON OUR TWO PROGRAMS THAT HAVE THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CHANGE. AND WE ARE GOING TO GO IN DEPTH WITH THEM TODAY. AND IN FEBRUARY, I MET WITH THEM ABOUT OUR SCHEDULING. AND AGAIN, WE WILL GO IN DEPTH WITH THAT TODAY. OUR FIRST PROGRAM THAT WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT IS ADVANCED MANUFACTURING. THIS IS A PROGRAM THAT IS AT OUR CCTC BUILDING. THIS IS A PROGRAM THAT DOES NOT HAVE A CORRELATED PROGRAM IN THE NEW PROGRAMS OF STUDY. OUR CURRENT PROGRAM USES WOOD FOR THEIR MANUFACTURING. WE USE A PROGRAM CALLED CAD AS WELL, COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN AND DRAFTING. AND THEY HAVE AN INDUSTRY RECOGNIZED CREDENTIAL OF THE FORKLIFT CERTIFICATE. IN THE NEW MSDE MANUFACTURING PROGRAM, THEY DO HAVE ONE. IT IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE DO NOW. IT IS ALL METAL WORK. SO WE ARE NOT FACILITY WISE, EQUIPPED FOR METALWORKING. WE DO NOT SEE THE NEED IN OUR REGION FOR THE METALWORKING MACHINING. SO IT WAS, WE DON'T WANT TO LOSE A PROGRAM AND NOT HAVE ANOTHER OPTION FOR STUDENTS. SO WE TOOK A DEEP DIVE INTO ALL OF THE NEW ALLOWABLE PROGRAMS. AND FACILITIES MANAGEMENT WAS A PROGRAM THAT REALLY CAME TO THE TOP AS ONE BEING AN OPTION FOR CAROLINE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS. THE INDUSTRY RECOGNIZED CREDENTIAL IS OSHA 30 AND THE FORKLIFT CERTIFICATION, WHICH I HAVE ALSO REALIZED THAT, ALTHOUGH WE'VE BEEN DOING THE FORKLIFT CERTIFICATION, WE HAVE BEEN DOING ONE WHERE STUDENTS DO HAVE THE CERTIFICATE, BUT IT WAS NOT THE ONE THAT IS CURRENTLY APPROVED BY MSDE. SO OUR TEACHERS WHO TEACH FORKLIFT TRAINING, WHETHER IT BE MANUFACTURING OR FACILITIES MANAGEMENT, ARE BEING TRAINED AT CHESAPEAKE COLLEGE IN THE BEGINNING OF JUNE TO BE CERTIFIED TO GIVE THE APPROVED FORKLIFT CERTIFICATION. WE TOOK A LOOK AT HOURLY WAGE AND ANNUAL SALARY. WE HAVE SOME ADDITIONAL DATA ON THAT AS WELL IN A COUPLE SLIDES. AND WE LOOKED AT INDEED FOR CAROLINE COUNTY AND CURRENT OPENINGS IN THE SURROUNDING AREAS FOR FACILITIES MANAGEMENT. WE TOOK A LOOK AT THE COURSE SEQUENCE. IT IS A THREE COURSE SEQUENCE. THE TITLES ARE INTRODUCTION TO FACILITIES MANAGEMENT, BUILDING SYSTEMS AND BUSINESS AND RISK MANAGEMENT. THE HIGHLIGHTED AREAS ARE JUST BECAUSE. I KNOW THAT THAT'S A LOT OF INFORMATION ON THE SCREEN. BUT THE HIGHLIGHTED AREAS ARE REALLY JUST THE MEAT OF WHAT IS TAUGHT IN EACH OF THE COURSES. SO IN THE BEGINNING, YOU'RE LEARNING BASIC FACILITY INSPECTIONS, MAINTAINING BUILDING SYSTEMS. SO, THIS DATA HERE SHOWS THAT IN NOVEMBER, 37% OF THE STUDENTS SAID CYBER SECURITY AND CLOSE TO 16% SAID NETWORKING, WHICH AS I SAID, WE SEE AN OVERLAP BETWEEN THE TWO OF THEM. WE ALSO DID ASK STUDENTS IF YOU WERE A COLONEL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT AND COMPUTER SCIENCE WAS TO MOVE TO EITHER NORTH CAROLINE OR CCTC, WOULD YOU STILL GO TO THAT PROGRAM? AND THE MAJORITY HAPPEN TO BE NORTH CAROLINE STUDENTS ALREADY, BUT 31% SAID YES FROM COLONEL THAT THEY WOULD. AND THE OTHER STUDENT SAID MAYBE. SO THIS IS THE LABOR MARKET DATA THAT WE HAD SHARED WITH STUDENTS, THAT WE HAVE SHARED WITH STAFF AND THAT I HAVE SHARED WITH OUR CTE WORK GROUP. YOU CAN SEE THAT COMPUTER PROGRAMING HAS THE SMALLEST GROWTH OPPORTUNITY IN THE NEXT TEN YEARS. CYBER AND NETWORKING, THE TEN YEAR PERCENT GROWTH, 13% AND 23%. WHEREAS IF YOU ACTUALLY LOOK AT CURRENT PROJECTED EMPLOYMENT IN MARYLAND, CYBER SECURITY IS LOOKING TO ADD 03,717 JOBS IN THE CYBER SECURITY AREA, AND THE ANNUAL OPENINGS BETWEEN CYBER AND NETWORKING ARE SIMILAR. I KNOW THAT WE'RE OFF OF THE TOPIC OF MACHINE TECHNOLOGY, BUT ON THE SAME SIDE AS THE LABOR MARKET DATA FOR THAT AS WELL. IF WE NEED TO. FOR KIDS TO GRAB CERTAIN CLASSES, THIS IS THE CHALLENGE OF COLONEL BEING A SMALL SCHOOL THAT SITS ABOUT A LITTLE LESS THAN 500 THIS YEAR. AND YOU HAVE THAT BALANCE AT TIMES OF, HOW DO YOU RUN A COURSE AT COLONEL IF YOU MAY HAVE FOUR KIDS IN A PROGRAM AND AT NORTH, WE HAVE, SAY, 12. I CAN COMBINE THE TWO AT 16 AND KIND OF BETTER USE OF FUNDING. SO WE DO THAT HISTORICALLY, JUST. CORRECT. SO YOU HAVE THAT CONTEXT, BUT WE ARE LOOKING AT IT PROGRAMMATICALLY. HOWEVER, WE DO KNOW THAT OUR NORTH CAROLINE NUMBERS ARE EITHER STEADY OR DECLINING JUST DUE TO ONE LARGE CLASS LEAVING AND NOT A AS LARGE OF A CLASS COMING IN. BUT THOSE ARE ALL THINGS THAT WE ARE TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION. AND IT'S NOT. THE DECISION DOESN'T REST WITH TAKING FROM COLONEL IF WE HAVE TO MOVE SOME THINGS, BUT WE ALREADY HAVE BUSSES TRAVELING NORTH EVERY DAY. SO WE'VE TAKEN A LOOK AT THAT SPRING START VERSUS, IS THERE A WAY TO START ALL STUDENTS IN THE FALL AND HAVE THEM BE THERE TWO SEMESTERS FOR ONE YEAR? SO WE'VE TAKEN A DEEP DIVE INTO WHAT THAT WOULD LOOK LIKE AS WELL. SO KIND OF SOME PROS AND CONS, SOME CAN BE. THE NEXT OPTION IS TO TAKE THE STUDENTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY IN OUR CCTC BUILDING RIGHT NOW AND SPLIT THEM INTO KIND OF TWO COHORTS, ONE TO TAKE CLASSES IN THE FALL AND FINISH, AND ONE TO HAVE A SEMESTER HIATUS FROM THEIR CTE PROGRAM AND HAVE THEM IN THE SPRING OF NEXT YEAR FINISH. AND THEN WE WOULD BE ABLE TO START NEW PROGRAMS IN THE FALL OF 27-28. SO THAT WOULD BE, FOR EXAMPLE, TAKING A LOOK AT THE SECOND GREEN LINE DOWN IN OUR CONSTRUCTION CLASS, WE HAVE 20 STUDENTS. THAT WOULD MEAN TAKING THOSE 20 STUDENTS, 10 EN WOULD FINISH NEXT FALL. THE OTHER 10 WOULD BE AT THEIR HOME SCHOOL IN THE FALL AND FINISH IN THE SPRING. MY RECOMMENDATION IS TO FINISH AS IS. WE'VE BEEN IN THIS AGREEMENT FOR PROBABLY CLOSE TO 20 YEARS OR MORE, PROBABLY MORE THAN THAT. THE INCREASE. AND I APPRECIATE THE WORK THAT SPECIAL ED SUPERVISORS HAVE DONE TO TRY TO LIMIT THAT INCREASE. THE INCREASE IS DOWN TO $6,400 ON THE OVERALL CONTRACT. SINCE 2019, IT'S BEEN OVER 100% INCREASE AS COSTS HAVE GONE UP. BUT ON BEHALF OF ALL FOUR SUPERINTENDENTS, I APPRECIATE THOSE EFFORTS TO REDUCE THAT COST FOR AN INCREASE. AND LASTLY, IT'S PUPIL SERVICES CONTRACTS. THESE ARE JUST WRITING THOSE TO WHAT THE COSTS ARE ACTUALLY AS THEY'VE GONE UP OVER TIME. UNDER PART FOUR, THERE ARE ADDITIONS. ONE OF THOSE WE'VE TALKED ABOUT QUITE A BIT AND THAT'S THE MAINTENANCE POSITION. ADDING IN A POSITION THAT WILL FOCUS ON GROUNDS AND ATHLETIC WORK. AND THEN WHEN WE'RE NOT IN THE NEEDING TO CUT GRASS AND MAINTAIN FIELD SEASON, THEY WOULD BE AN EXTRA SET OF HANDS IN THE MAINTENANCE SHOP THAT'S THERE. NOBODY COULD HAVE ENVISIONED OUR ESSER AND ALL THE FEDERAL MONEY THAT CAME IN TO PROP UP SCHOOLS. BUT WE HAD ALREADY REDUCED COLONEL RICHARDSON MIDDLE SCHOOL'S COUNSELORS TO ONE COUNSELOR AT A MIDDLE SCHOOL. WHEN IT CAME TIME TO ADD THE POSITION IN, WE USED OUR ESSER MONEY TO ADD THE COUNSELOR BACK IN. NOT IN THE LOCAL BUDGET. THIS GIVES THEM THE ABILITY TO USE THEIR CONCENTRATION OF POVERTY FUNDING IN THE APPROPRIATE WAY TO COVER AN INTERVENTION TEACHER, WHICH IS 100% ALLOWABLE EXPENSE. AND ONE OF THE THINGS THEY SHOULD BE DOING WITH THAT MONEY, WHEN THEY SEE THE NEED, IT WOULD GIVE COLONEL MIDDLE THE ABILITY TO COVER THAT OUT OF THE APPROPRIATE FUNDING SOURCE. BUT IT DOES MEAN THAT I HAVE TO MOVE THEM IN THE LOCAL AND THEY BECOME A REGULAR POSITION WITHIN OUR LOCAL BUDGET. SO THAT'S WHY THAT NEW POSITION IS ADDED IN. THE POSITION THAT DROPPED OFF THE BUDGET THAT WE WERE HOPING FOR WAS TO ADD TWO MAINTENANCE POSITIONS. BUT IN TALKING WITH MR. MENGEL AND MR. MORTON, THEY WERE COMING TO ME PRIOR TO ME GOING TO THEM TO SAY, HEY, I DON'T THINK WE'RE GOING TO GET IN THIS YEAR'S BUDGET. THEY WERE COMING AT THE SAME TIME TO SAY, HEY, I THINK WE JUST WANT TO GO WITH ONE RIGHT NOW FOR NEXT YEAR. AND LET'S HOLD ON THE ADDITIONAL MAINTENANCE POSITION WE WERE LOOKING AT FOR ANOTHER YEAR. SO IT'S TWO NEW POSITIONS, THOUGH NOT REALLY, TWO NEW IN THE LOCAL BUDGET, ONE TOTAL NEW AND A LOT OF JUST ADJUSTMENTS TO COST OF DOING BUSINESS. AND PRIORITY NUMBER ONE HAS BEEN TAKING CARE OF OUR STAFF. WE SHOULD BE IN A BETTER POSITION FOR THE BOARD BY. MAY NOT BE BY THE MAY MEETING, DEPENDING ON WHEN WE GET THE WORKBOOK FROM THE STATE, BUT HOPEFULLY BY THE MAY WORK SESSION WITH KNOWING WHAT OUR FINAL NUMBERS LOOK LIKE, BUT WE DO NOT HAVE ANY CONCERNS OF REACHING THE $60,000 STARTING SALARY FOR TEACHERS. AND WE FEEL THIS LEAVES US IN A REALLY GOOD SPOT. IT'S NOT AN EXTREMELY TIGHT BUDGET. YOU KNOW, WE'VE GIVEN OURSELVES SOME CUSHION AND FLEXIBILITY THAT IF THERE'S A LOT OF VARIABLES FOR NEXT YEAR'S BUDGETING THAT WE'RE NOT SURE HOW TO BUDGET. WELL, WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE IMPACTS WILL BE FOR HOW THINGS COULD GO WITH SOME OF THE THINGS WE CAN'T CONTROL. MOST IMPORTANTLY, FUEL. AND NOTHING AGAINST THE COMPANIES WE'VE USED, BUT IT HELPS IF WE CAN RESPOND A LITTLE BIT QUICKER WITH SOME THINGS.
