WE ACTUALLY APPLIED AND RECEIVED THE GRANT ACTUALLY AT A TIME WHEN I WAS IN THE ROLE MR HOWE HAS. AND IT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR CCPS TO REALLY LOOK TO SECURE FUNDS TO BUILD OUT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SUPPORTS FOR OUR KIDS AND FOR OUR FAMILIES. AND AT THE TIME, WE DIDN'T QUITE KNOW IF WE WERE GOING TO GET THE GRANT BECAUSE IT ONLY OPENS EVERY SO OFTEN. AND WE WERE ABSOLUTELY THRILLED WHEN WE GOT IT. AND IT WAS A MOMENT FOR ME SITTING THERE, AND I'LL DEFINITELY TAKE IT PERSONAL ON THIS ONE FOR ME, TO SIT THERE AND REFLECT BACK TO SEE WHAT HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED BY PEOPLE WHO WERE COMMITTED TO IMPROVING OUTCOMES FOR OUR KIDS AND FAMILIES. AND IT'S NOT JUST THE SCHOOL SYSTEM, IT'S OUR PARTNERS WHO WERE PRESENT, WHO HAVE BEEN PART OF THIS WORK. SOME PEOPLE WHO ARE STILL WITH US, SOME WHO HAVE RETIRED, WHO HAVE REALLY DONE A GREAT JOB TO REACH OUT AND DO THINGS THAT MIGHT BE A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT WHEN WE THINK OF PUBLIC ED. IT'S NOT JUST READING AND WRITING; WE KNOW THEY'RE SUPER IMPORTANT, BUT IF OUR KIDS AREN'T AVAILABLE MENTALLY TO LEARN, IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. AND THERE HAS BEEN A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF NEED, AND WE'VE REALLY BEEN TRYING TO BUILD THAT. SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WERE SHARED THAT DAY, AND THE WORK IS NOT DONE BECAUSE THE GRANTS ARE DONE. WE HAVE NEW FUNDING SOURCES TO USE TO SUPPORT THE WORK. AND WE HAVE CREATIVE PARTNERS WHO ARE CONSTANTLY LOOKING FOR AVENUES TO HELP BUILD THIS OUT AS WELL TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO OUR KIDS AND OUR FAMILIES AT OUR SCHOOLS. BUT TO HIGHLIGHT A FEW THINGS. OVER THAT TIME PERIOD, WE EXPOSED 7,460 FAMILIES AND STUDENTS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO OUR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE RESOURCES, SO OUR FAMILIES CAN ACCESS SUPPORTS WITHIN EITHER OUR SCHOOLS OR IN OUR COMMUNITIES. OTHER INFORMATION THAT WE SHARED THAT DAY THAT WENT OVER. CCPS WAS PART OF TRAINING OVER 2,000 PEOPLE IN EVIDENCE-BASED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TOPICS. IT'S NOT JUST OUR EMPLOYEES; IT'S ALSO PEOPLE WHO WORK WITH KIDS IN OUR COMMUNITIES TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO THAT. WE'VE ADDED BEHAVIORAL FACILITATOR POSITIONS, WORKING WITH OUR PARTNERS AS WELL, TO HELP WITH THE WAITING LISTS THAT EXIST WITH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROVIDERS, SCHOOL-BASED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, WHICH WE HAD, BUT WE REALLY BUILT OUT UNDER THIS MODEL AND OPENED OUR EYES TO WAYS TO ENGAGE PARTNERS MORE. OVER 1,300 NEW SCHOOL-BASED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH REFERRALS AND 790 SERVED. IN THAT TIME PERIOD. THIS IS ALSO THE TIME PERIOD WHERE WE WERE CLOSED SOME FOR COVID AND HITTING THOSE NUMBERS. LAST YEAR, THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT REACHED OUT ABOUT THE CONCEPT OF USING THEIR MOBILE TREATMENT BUSES TO HAVE A SUBSTANCE USE TREATMENT BUS COME TO OUR SECONDARY SCHOOLS. IT'S GONE VERY WELL. IT WAS A PILOT. IT WAS COMPLETELY NOVEL. THEY HAD AN IDEA. THEY HAD CLINICIANS WHO WERE WILLING TO TRY AN IDEA, AND WE DID IT. AND IT'S WORKED OUT VERY WELL. OUR CERTIFIED PEER SUPPORT SPECIALISTS HAVE BEEN GREAT AS WELL, HELPING TACKLE THE CHALLENGE OF THE WAITLIST AND SUPPORTING FAMILIES. AND THEN WE'VE ALSO PARTNERED WITH THE COOK CENTER AROUND ONLINE ACCESS THAT THEY HAVE FOR PARENTS WITH WEBINARS. THEY'RE OPENING A NEW PORTAL THIS YEAR FOR STAFF CALLED STAFF GUIDANCE, SUPPORT OF STAFF, BOTH EITHER PERSONALLY OR PROFESSIONALLY, IF THEY'RE WORKING WITH STUDENTS, AND THEY'RE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW THEY HELP REACH THEM.
