The Caroline County Board of Education will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. The public may attend in person or view the meeting via livestream.


The regular Board meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. only for the purpose of voting to close its meeting pursuant to the State Government article (Section 3-305 (1,7)) (1) to discuss the appointment, employment, assignment, promotion, discipline, demotion, compensation, removal, resignation, or performance evaluation of appointees, employees, or officials over whom this public body has jurisdiction; any other personnel matter that affects one or more specific individuals; to discuss the various personnel matters from the last month, (7) to consult with counsel to obtain legal advice on board vacancy.


The public portion of the meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. when the Board reconvenes in public session.

Recommended Action
That the Caroline County Board of Education accept the attached FY 2025 Preliminary Budget to be submitted to the Caroline County Commissioners.

The budget reflects an increase from the Caroline County Commissioners and the State of Maryland.  Projected state revenue reflects unofficial and preliminary data, as well as the county appropriation. When the official data is reflected in the State aid calculations, the actual revenue for next year may change. Additionally, as guidance is updated regarding increased state revenues based on Blueprint, the budget may need to be adjusted to reflect this.

That the Caroline County Board of Education approve June 12, 2024 as the last day of school for the 2023-2024 school year.

The 2023-2024 school year calendar reflects 180 student days and 190 teacher work days. Three additional days were included in the current school year calendar for inclement weather. School was closed on January 16 and January 19 for inclement weather this school year making the last day of school for students June 12, 2024 and the last work day for teachers will be June 13, 2024.
