Mixed Doubles State Champions for Tennis:
Supervisor of Athletics Jon Marketto recognizes Nash Ireland as the Athletic Director of the Year for District 8 by the Maryland Public Schools Secondary Athletic Association (MPSAA).
Mr. Ireland was nominated by the Bayside Conference Athletic Directors for this honor. He has been the Athletic Director at North Caroline High School (NCHS) since 2018. After graduating from NCHS in 2009, he attended Salisbury University and earned his Bachelor’s degree in History with minors in Social Studies and Athletic Coaching Minor in 2014. He returned to NCHS in 2015 to teach Social Studies and eventually accept the Athletic Director position. Mr. Ireland also coached JV Boys Basketball for three years, and has been the head golf coach for the past eight years.

Supervisor of Instruction Amy Towers will recognize Greensboro Elementary School for earning the 2023 Green School Award. Over the past two years, GES has demonstrated and documented a continuous effort to integrate sustainable environmental management practices, environmental education curriculum, professional development opportunities, and community engagement into the daily operations. This award signifies that GES has made a commitment to developing stewards of the earth and reducing the environmental impact of the school.
CS100 Awards recognize elementary schools nationwide that commit to teaching at least ten hours of computer science to every K-5 student in the 2023-2024 school year. Out of 146 schools nationwide, all 5 of our elementary schools won for excellence in computer science education.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Derek Simmons will recognize North Caroline High School teacher Mirta Valdes-Bradner as the recipient of the 2023 Minority Recognition Award from the Maryland State Educators Association (MSEA).
The award was established to honor the outstanding achievements of minorities from across the state of Maryland. The award has five categories: public education, politics, leadership, community involvement, and the fifth category, which celebrates the contributions an MSEA Aspiring Educator makes in the promotion of the United Education Profession.

The members of the Caroline County Board of Education desire to hear the views and have the advice of interested citizens. The public comment session is held at each Board meeting for that purpose.
In-Person Public Comment - The time allotted for the Public Comment portion of the agenda is no more than 30 minutes total. The Board of Education does not engage in a discussion of the matter being brought to it but will, if appropriate, direct the Superintendent to respond at a later time.

Individuals will be called to the podium in the order in which they registered by email or sign-in.

The Board’s negotiating team met with the ASACC team to review the current memorandum of understanding. The two teams agreed to the changes as reflected on the attached summary sheet. The changes were unanimously ratified by the ASACC membership on May 31, 2023. This memorandum of understanding is for one year.

We are in the final month of the current fiscal year and detailed analysis shows that there are funds available to purchase one-time items that are needed at various locations throughout the district. Many of these items were identified as part of the fiscal year 2024 budget development process but were not added to the operating budget due to lack of funding.
