Dr. Simmons will present a check to Ms. Debbie Bennett, Executive Director of Caroline County Public Library from various donations the schools collected through out the year for Imagination Library as well as the amount being donated by CCPS in honor of our 2021-2022 retirees service to students.
Imagination Library is a program that provides a free, age-appropriate book every month to any child in Caroline County, from the time they are born through the age of five.
Board members will highlight one activity for the month.
The Superintendent will report out recent events/news during the last month.

In preparation for the upcoming administrative changes during the 2022-2023 school year, the administrative appointment of Mr. Jon Marketto: Supervisor of Instruction: Social Studies, World Languages, Athletics, is necessary to ensure systemic change within the administration.

The Maryland State Department of Education provided LEAs an opportunity to repurpose a maximum of 3 asynchronous days and 5 synchronous days in the 2022 - 2023 school year. Pending the Boards approval, CCPS will submit the attached plan to use a maximum of 3 asynchronous virtual days in the 2022 - 2023 school year to Maryland State Department of Education for approval.
This plan was presented to the School System Improvement Council (SSIC) and Community Advisory Council (CAC) in July 2022 for feedback.

On May 30, 2021, Governor Hogan signed HB630 into law, which requires school systems to have a policy on energy management and conservation and that the policy must (1) address the purchasing, conservation, and efficiency of the school system’s energy usage; (2) report and monitor the amount of renewable and non-renewable energy used by the school system; and (3) set targets for energy use as calculated by energy usage per square foot.
To that end, Policy I.12.70 has been revised to include policy statements on purchasing, usage and efficiency, as well as compliance with statewide reporting and data collection in addition to historical data and energy use targets.

Explanation: On April 9, 2022, Governor Hogan signed HB1255 into law, which changes the definitions for physical restraint and seclusion, changing the circumstances for which physical restraint may be used as a student behavior intervention, and prohibiting a public agency from using seclusion as a
student behavior intervention.
To that end, Policy III.31.50 required the following revisions:

Michelle Foster, 2021-2022 Caroline County Teacher of the Year, will report on her exciting experiences while serving as CCPS Teacher of the Year:
Dr. Simmons will provide an update to the Board on the Reopening Plan being submitted to MSDE for the 22-23 school year.
Director of Operations Bill Mengel will introduce a new energy management program through Cenergistic.
