Superintendent Dr. Derek Simmons will recognize the Caroline County Retired School Personnel Association for their generous contribution of $100 to each school.
In preparation for the upcoming administrative changes for the 2022-2023 school year, the aforementioned administrative appointment is necessary to ensure systemic change within the administration.

IM K-5 Math is an Open Educational Resource. IM Certified Partners provide access to the latest versions of IM Certified curricula through a freely available option as well as through for-fee print and digital platforms. There are two certified partners for IM K-5 Math: Kendall Hunt and Imagine Learning.
Both vendors offer digital access to IM K–12 Math, certified by Illustrative Mathematics, along with printed resources to ensure teachers and students are making the most of IM’s problem-based curriculum. The digital curriculum provides schools access to the most up-to-date version so students receive an effective mathematics education.

Supervisor of Instruction Melissa Mulligan selected viable options from those rated Meets Expectations by EdReports and currently in use by other Maryland districts. Fourteen math curricula were considered based on the criteria in the CSM rubric. Vendor presentations were scheduled with the MRTs and demo accounts were shared with teachers. K-5 teachers were surveyed to identify teachers willing to participate in vetting process. Additional teachers were recruited so that all schools and all grade levels were represented.

This award provides all supervision, labor, necessary materials, equipment, tools, services, and other incidentals required for pick-up of refuse and recyclables from various schools and sites as well as the initial provision and continual maintenance of the refuse/recyclable dumpsters. The contract will serve 17 locations and provide a total of 34 containers. The contract term is July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2024, and contains three one-year renewal options.
The funds associated with this project are provided for in our general operating budget.
The bid process and procedures complied with Board policy and applicable state laws and regulations.
Recommendation: That the Board of Education appoint Ms. Erin Thornton to represent management as an Eastern Shore of Maryland Educational Consortium (ESMEC) Health Insurance Alliance trustee.
Explanation: Each participating school system appoints two trustees, one representing management and one representing the employee bargaining group. A trustee’s term is for one year and is automatically renewed unless the trustee resigns, is removed, or is otherwise unable to serve.
Ms. Debbie Siachos has been serving as the management trustee since 2021 but with the recent change of her position, Ms. Erin Thornton will be replacing Ms Siachos.
Ms. Margaret Wittman has been serving since 2020 as the second trustee and represents the employee bargaining group.

The Maryland Association of Boards of Education (MABE) hold regular meetings of the Legal Service Association (LSA) to discuss matters of common interest of school systems throughout Maryland. Each school system is encouraged to have a representative attend these meetings. Representatives are approved by the Board of Education.

Explanation: The Board’s negotiating team met with the ASACC team to review the current memorandum of understanding. The two teams agreed to the changes as reflected on the attached summary sheet. This memorandum of understanding is for one year.
Communication Officer Sandi Barry will review the new communication platform for the 2022-2023 school year.
