Superintendent of Schools Dr. Derek Simmons and Board President Mr. James Newcomb, Jr. will recognize North Caroline High School Student Representative Zachary O'Brien and Colonel Richardson High School Student Representative Zahid Ashraf, for their outstanding service to the Caroline County Board of Education during the 2021-2022 school year.
McCabe Piavis, 12th grader at North Caroline High School, is being recognized for serving as Caroline County's Student Page during the 2022 Session of the Maryland General Assembly.
The contract will be a firm, fixed price contract. Performance will begin on June 20, 2022, and the project will be completed by the close of business on August 30, 2022. The funds associated with this project are provided for through The State of Maryland’s Interagency Commission for School Construction and the Caroline County Government.
The bid process and procedures complied with Board policy and applicable state laws and regulations.
During the 2021-22 school year, staff support and retention has been a high priority of the system. To address this focus area, grant funding has been allocated in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER II) funds to provide a $1,000 payment to all permanent employees of the Caroline County Board of Education hired as of January 27, 2022 and still employed in a permanent capacity through May 31, 2022. For those permanent employees who meet these eligibility requirements (926 employees), the $1,000 one-time staff retention bonus will be included in the May 31, 2022 paycheck. This payment will not be considered part of annual compensation for negotiations purposes, nor be considered part of annual salary for retirement purposes.
