That the Caroline County Board of Education approve the payment of a $1,000 one-time staff retention bonus to all permanent Board of Education employees.

During the 2021-22 school year, staff support and retention has been a high priority of the system.  To address this focus area, grant funding has been allocated in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER II) funds to provide a $1,000 payment to all permanent employees of the Caroline County Board of Education hired as of January 27, 2022 and still employed in a permanent capacity through May 31, 2022.  For those permanent employees who meet these eligibility requirements (926 employees), the $1,000 one-time staff retention bonus will be included in the May 31, 2022 paycheck.  This payment will not be considered part of annual compensation for negotiations purposes, nor be considered part of annual salary for retirement purposes.
